I know little about the Monarch Cycle Company, but I admire their penchant for exaggeration. In an era where there were literally thousands of bicycle brands in America, they claimed that their machine “overtops the triumphs of twenty centuries ago.” Right. It’s doubtful they could even be ridden through an Egyptian desert. Notice that there are four lions in this ad. Can’t find them all? Look again at the rock the lion is standing on. And don’t forget the Sphinx, who was still mostly buried in sand when this ad came out.
